I stopped listening and reading to the news a while ago. I found everything depressing. Depressing to the point that it was affecting me directly. Global issues made me think there was no hope, and issues more close to home, violence against others, and especially any form of child abuse would make me feel very sad.
I know it’s happening, and every now and then I have a burst read of things that are going on, but I largely ignore the media as much as I am able to. This has led me to feel happier overall.
This doesn’t make me naive. I don’t know specifics but I understand the general trend because of what people I work with are talking about. And it’s also impossible to hide entirely so I pick up on what’s going on. I talk to my wife about issues too.
I’ve just has a bit of a read and see that the climate change protests are going on in London. I’m glad people are feeling strongly about this. I’ve felt it for a long time. 21 years being vegetarian after having been introduced to the ideas through punk music. I still find it fascinating that people believe it’s their choice to eat meat, and when I do get into discussions about it the ending point is often “I couldn’t live without me meat, me”.
Anywho, bit of a self justification rant. I need some more structure than this. 😀
